Brendan Hammer, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, is a Chicago-area matrimonial and family law attorney. Formerly a Partner at two of the nation's most highly regarded family law firms, Brendan litigates, negotiates and mediates on behalf of a wide variety of individuals, from executives, entrepreneurs and medical, legal and creative professionals to political figures, professional athletes and their spouses. Brendan also provides consulting services to family law practitioners nationwide, providing a creative array of litigation support resources focusing on the performative and psychological aspects of family law litigation. 

Brendan also publishes and presents frequently on a variety of legal topics including: trial advocacy, cross examination and evidence. Brendan is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Texas (currently inactive status in Texas) and served as the Chair of the Advisory Board of the DePaul University College of Law/Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP Family Law Center. In 2019, Brendan served pm the faculty of the National Family Law Trial Institute. 

In 2017, Brendan was selected by Crain's Chicago Business as one of Chicago's "Most Influential Minority Lawyers." Brendan was previously selected by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin for their annual "40 Attorneys Under 40 to Watch" after only five years in practice. 

Brendan is also a member of the Advisory Council of the David Lynch Foundation (Chicago). A life-long meditator, Brendan speaks widely about the importance of wellness, self-care and meditation for lawyers and professionals working in high stress/high performance fields.
